After the gujarat earthquake in 2001, VODI made its own earthquake appeal based on discrimination in relief and rehabilitation. UK based community groups andindividuals responded to thisanbd VODI has initiated a rehabilitation project in Madhapur, Bhuj-Kutch. It also found a team of social workers to go and live amidst the affected communities and build them up. They silently continued the work in different affected villages.
